June 18, 2008. Oceania gave us a complementary bus tour from Dover to London, explaining all the sites as we proceeded.
The first site was the Tower of London. We made plans to revisit it.
We rode along the river Thames and we saw "what they say" was the original Queen Mary. We also caught a glimpse of the Millennium Wheel.
We were lucky enough to catch the noon Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace.
The Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace.
There was also a Changing of the Guard at St James Palace.
Continuing the bus tour of busy London streets.
After checking into the Plaza Riverbank Hotel we set on foot to explore the nearby House of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and Big Ben.
Statues of Richard The Lion Hearted, Oliver Cromwell and Winston Churchill, within the Parliament grounds.
St Margaret's Church within Westminster Abbey.
Neighborhood where most of the diplomatic residences are located, quiet, elegant, with no outward display of wealth. It is also the former home of T. E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia).
